Ok! First things first… Let’s start the year off right by putting God first in a few key areas.
The first part sets the tone for the rest.
There are so many things to be said on priorities, but let’s focus on a few areas that will have a huge impact on the rest of your life.
Here are three areas to put God first:
1. Your Morning
Now, I understand that not all of you are morning people like me, but everyone can find a way to turn your attention toward Jesus at the beginning of your day. By doing a Bible reading plan, listening to worship music or praying. How you start your day will impact the rest of your day.
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. (Psalm 5:3 NIV)
2. Your Money
This can be a tough area because there is often so much emotion connected to our money. The Bible is so full of scriptures that command and encourage generosity. When it comes to our money, the Bible calls us to Tithe, which means a tenth of everything you make. When we give the 10% to God, He blesses the rest.
“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. (Malachi 3:8, 10 NIV)
3. Your Mission
We all have ambition and dreams about what we want to be or do in life. Some may have elaborate plans and strategy and others may have a basic next step they are dreaming of. But all of us are called to submit our plan and dream for His greater mission. Most of the time He will use your dream as a part of the big picture of the mission He has, but we must first ask, what does God want, before we ask what do I want. The best place to begin this journey is by getting connect with other Christians in a Church. The Bible says that the Church, is at the center of society and God’s purpose. God delegates His purpose to a local group of Christians (AKA the Church). When you connect to the Church, it will take your daily purpose and fulfillment to the next level! If you live in the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue area, we’d love to have you join us at Champions Centre.
He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence. (Ephesians 1:20-23 MSG)
Of course there are more things we could talk about, but I challenge you to put God first in the above three areas and see what God does in your life this year. You can take this promise to the bank that Jesus gave us:
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33 NIV)
